St Michael’s Institution’s stage presentation this year comes in a double package. Entitled “Night of Double Joy”, it will be staged from April 12 to 14 and will feature the drama “The Lion King” after which will be the “Talentime 2013” competition.

“The presentation is part of the school’s dynamic tradition to unravel the diversity of the students’ stage talents, culture and diversity,” said SMI Senior Principal Loh Wei Seng.

The drama “The Lion King” this year will be directed by Ms Corrinne Mah. The story is about King Mufasa (the Lion King) teaching his son Simba the responsibilities of being a king. However, Mufasa’s younger brother Scar is jealous for not being able to succeed Mufasa and so the plot thickens. Great storyline, colourful costumes and fantastic makeup not to mention a SMI tradition for drama. Be sure to catch the show.

SMI’s Talentime 2013 will commence after the drama and will adopt the “Idol” format with participants having to perform for three nights by singing or offering different presentations. The audience too will be allowed to participate by voting for their favourite performers. The results will be announced at the end of each night. It is something different but should be lots of fun.
Tickets are priced at RM20 and RM50 and proceeds will go towards the school’s maintenance fund. ‘Old boys’ (in town or outstation) can get their tickets from the school office or call 05-254 0418.
