Pangkor Island Carbon Dioxide-Free in 2021

RM10 million was allocated by the state government for the transitioning of existing pink taxis in Pangkor Island into electric-powered ones.

According to Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, it was suggested in a recent implementation plan for the tax-free island.

“Pangkor Island is not only a well-known tourism destination, but it’s also the main attraction in Perak,” he stated. “In line with technological advancement today, we would like to ensure that the environmental surroundings are without any forms of pollution.

“We would also like to make Pangkor Island an island free from carbon dioxide emission,” Faizal added. “With that, Pangkor Island will surely be elevated as a pollution-free tourism destination.

“100 electric-powered motorcycles will also be prepared for upcoming island visitors, which is expected to be complete by next year,” he mentioned.
