By Mei Kuan

The Royal Ipoh Club kickstarted its COVID-19 Assistance CSR Programme today (August 19) with 40 individuals of all ethnicities from the B40 category around Ipoh receiving basic food necessities such as eggs and rice.

Held with strict adherence to the health and safety standard operating procedures, the first batch of presentations was carried out at the club’s premises along Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab.

“We have sought assistance from the state social welfare department and club members in order to identify the recipients,” Organising Chairman cum Past President of Royal Ipoh Club, Dato’ Dr S. Sivanesan told Ipoh Echo.

“Being a prestigious club which has stood tall over 126 years and a part of the community, we aim to ease the burden of the needy and poor,” President of Royal Ipoh Club, Shivdev Singh explained.

The voluntary effort is made possible by generous donations of club members and corporate sponsors.

Besides dry food rations worth approximately RM80 each, packs of freshly-cooked food donated by the club’s chef were also distributed.

Set to be a long-term initiative, the club hoped to cover orphanages and homes for the elderly in the future.

Shivdev expressed, “We look forward to more partners joining us as we carry on.”

Those who would like to lend a helping hand can contact the Royal Ipoh Club at 05 254 2212.
