Royal Belum Theme Songs

‘Royal Belum Belum Tercemar’ (Royal Belum Hasn’t Been Polluted) was selected as the winner in the Royal Belum Theme Song competition organised in conjunction with the Royal Belum International Festival 2014, which took place recently.

Its composer, Syarifah Baizura Datuk Syed Alwi, 31, took home RM10,000 in cash, along with a certificate of appreciation. Executive Councillor for Health, Tourism and Culture Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohd Radzi presented the prize.

“This is the first time I’ve won in a song-writing competition. I owe this success to my father who has been supportive of my efforts in writing this song. It was inspired from his visit to Royal Belum some time ago.

“It took me just two weeks to come up with this song which reflects the beauty of Royal Belum which is pristine and unpolluted,” said Syarifah Baizura (pic), who hails from Kg. Gelok in Lenggong, Perak.

Armed with a Diploma in Music from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Shah Alam, Syarifah Baizura hopes that this first success will inspire her to compose more songs, contributing to the local arts scene. “I presented my own composition because I wanted to express my love for Perak and its natural beauty, a gift from God.”

Nolee, in her opening remarks called upon all segments of society to appreciate and preserve the beauty of Royal Belum, the crown jewel of Perak. “Tonight, we’re presented with a beautiful song, ‘Royal Belum, Belum Tercemar’, composed by a Perakean. I hope the song would inspire everyone to embrace the beauty and uniqueness of Royal Belum.”
