National Horse Show 2016

Over 2000 people witnessed the National Horse Show 2016 (NHS) held at PRTC Equestrian Club at Jalan Kelab Golf recently from October 13 to 16. Organised by Perak Turf Club and PRTC Equestrian Club, the last time it was held in Ipoh was in 2013.

The week-long event was officiated by Tan Sri Dato Seri V. Jeyaratnam and the chairman of NHS 2016, Norman Tan Jin Leong,

“For the equestrian community, we have competitions over the four days in the equestrian disciplines of show jumping and dressage, as well as some mixed discipline events including a triathlon which features ground archery. The highlight of the equestrian competitions is undoubtedly the SEA Games Qualifier which will showcase the top equestrian riders of our country in competitive action,” said Norman.

As a tradition, the National Horse Show is organised yearly by one of the three Malaysian Turf Club on a rotational basis. Norman deeply hopes that the tradition of rotating will continue for many years to come, “As part of its community welfare programme initiatives, Perak Turf Club is hosting 200 underprivileged children from 10 homes as its special guest for this NHS,” added Norman.

For the general public, NHS had carnival events and entertainment shows, including a Magic Show and shows featuring a Fire-Eater and a Snake Man. Children also enjoyed Pony Rides and Carriage rides, and traditional carnival delights like popcorn, candy floss and ice cream. Other activities included sand art, caricature drawing, face tattoo & painting.
