Upcoming PCCCI Sports Events

The Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCCI) is kicking off their 110th anniversary celebration this year with two upcoming major sports events: Tour De Perak 3 Days Cycling and Menglembu Kledang Hill 10km Jungle Trail Race. To be held in conjunction with the Visit Perak Year 2017 to promote Perak as a brand, these two will be the first few of a series of events for the year.

“To ensure a successful 110th anniversary celebration, various ideas are conceptualised since this committee was installed in 2015,” Dato’ Liew Sew Yee, president cum chairman of PCCCI said during a press conference on Saturday, April 15 at the PCCCI office.

A brainchild of Dato’ Liew, each pit stop of the Tour De Perak 3 Days Cycling route featuring refreshments and charity projects will be hosted by one PCCCI branch to get all the Perak branches involved in the big celebration besides building a stronger rapport. It will be held from June 10 to 12.

“Each day we will cycle around 150km. The response is overwhelming, hence registration is already closed. The main pit stops in order are Batu Gajah, Bidor, Tanjung Malim for the first day, Teluk Intan and Seri Manjung for the second day, Kuala Kangsar, Sungai Siput and WEIL Hotel for the third day. It will culminate in a celebratory dinner at the WEIL Hotel,” Lee Yeong Wai, chairman of the sports committee explained. Over 30 registered cyclists made up of PCCCI members and members of the public will participate in the non-competition long distance cycling with a noble mission.

Meanwhile, the Menglembu Kledang Hill 10km Jungle Trail Race is still open for registration. Targeting 1000 participants, sports enthusiasts will embark on a scenic path brimming with century-old trees which is not trodden by many. To be held on July 9 at 7am, SJKC Wan Hwa 2 is the designated flag off and finishing point. There are a total of 11 categories competed (four age groups for women and seven age groups for men) with an average of 10 trophies allocated for each.

For early birds who register by May 31, the fees are RM50 (general) and RM40 (for school students and senior citizens). Each participant will receive a vibrant Second Skin T-shirt, personalised race number and specially-designed finishing medal. Plus, chipsets will be used for accurate timing. There will be lucky draws and goodies too.
