Palm Hotel Opens

Palm Hotel, a boutique hotel, celebrated its long-awaited grand opening on Saturday, September 30 with a traditional praying ceremony, ribbon cutting, lion dance and buffet lunch.

Johnny Liew, executive director told Ipoh Echo, “We are targeting a younger crowd who appreciates the little details like design and the quality of life. We are running on a classical design with a touch of industrial which is not a very common combination. The concept flows with our fusion-style café, Como.”

Also present was Dato’ Liew Chee Meng, the managing director.

Each of the 40 rooms is decorated with unique portraits hand drawn by Johnny and his team for an element of surprise. Palm Hotel also boasts having the first cocktail-focused bar in Ipoh, La Rouge, to bring a different kind of drinking experience to the Ipoh social scene.

“The idea of the whole hotel is to make it fun and laid-back,” Johnny added.

Palm Hotel also showcased their latest adoption of Daikin’s VRV (variable refrigerant volume) Heat Recovery Hot Water system which provides a comfortable air conditioning experience for users as well as being energy efficient in terms of supporting a hot water heating system. Guests will get hot water just by turning on their Daikin air conditioner. This innovative VRV goes beyond the conventional system by recovering the waste heat from an air conditioner to heat up water instead of releasing it to the ambience.

Not only does it help save the hotel’s annual electricity consumption, it also sets up the foundation for others to adopt this technology. Named as a “Daikin Eco Building”, Palm Hotel was presented with a certificate of recognition.

The rooms are priced at the following promotional rates till November 30: deluxe king without window (2 pax) – RM98, deluxe king (2 pax) – RM108, deluxe twin (2 pax) – RM108, deluxe king with lounge (2 pax) – RM138, family room (3 pax) – RM188, family room with lounge (3 pax) – RM208, family suite (4 pax) – RM238.

Palm Hotel hosts smaller-scale informal events and is disabled-friendly to an extent with ramps and elevator.
