KinderJoy Education Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wawasan Open University (WOU) on Thursday, October 26.
It was to appoint KinderJoy as a Learning Laboratory for WOU’s Diploma in Early Childhood Education (DECE) programme.
Signing on behalf of KinderJoy was its Executive Director Stephanie Liu while WOU was signed by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr Ho Sinn Chye. It was witnessed by Professor Santhiram Raman, Dean of WOU’s School of Education, Languages and Communications and C.J. Liu, Founder and Executive Director of KinderJoy.
Guest of Honour, Aznan Alias, Perak Education Department Head of Special and Private Education Sector was also present to witness the signing ceremony.
The collaboration, said Stephanie, was to satisfy the Ministry of Education’s requirement for the minimum qualification of a Diploma in DECE for all preschool teachers by 2020.
“It’s commendable of MOE to regularise the early childhood education industry. Educators can now be regarded as professionals rather than nannies,” she said in her speech.
Professor Ho expressed his gratitude to KinderJoy for allowing the university to use the kindergarten’s facilities to train their students. Wawasan Open University began the course in January 2017.
“This is a part-time programme delivered via distance-learning mode.
“The course is available at all our five centres namely, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Ipoh,” he added.
