A Day at Daybreak Centre

The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Perak organised a visit to Daybreak Centre on Tuesday, April 10 as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The visit was in conjunction with the organisation’s 50th Anniversary.

Members of FMM Perak, from 26 business entities, took part in the visit. They were briefed on the training provided by the centre. They were then taken on a tour around the facility to better understand the kind of training the trainees undergo.

FMM Perak Chapter Chairman, Dato’ Gan Tack Kong stressed the importance of providing people with disabilities an opportunity to live a normal life. “We strongly believe that these trainees, despite their disabilities, have the potential to be gainfully employed in industries since they had undergone vocational training at Daybreak Centre,” he said when addressing those present.

Puan Sri Dato’ Sandra Lee, the Executive Chairman of Daybreak, expressed her gratitude to FMM for being very supportive of her organisation by providing jobs to the trainees.

“We don’t want to send them home once they’ve completed their training. We want them to have jobs so they’re able to generate an income. Members of FMM have been providing jobs to our trainees. It’s been a very rewarding partnership,” said Sandra to Ipoh Echo.
