Cleaning Up Ipoh

Some 300 hundred people, consisting of residents and staff from Ipoh City Council, conducted a joint cleaning-up operation (gotong-royong) at Bercham Baru township on Friday, December 21.

The gotong-royong was led by the Assemblyman for Bercham, Ong Boon Piow and Ipoh City Councillor, Jacky Ngoh Kok Foong. Council heads of departments were present to lend a helping hand.

They removed illegal dumpsites, trimmed trees, cleared clogged drains and cleaned scupper holes.

Up till November Ipoh City Council had removed some 1672 illegal dumpsites around the city. Over 4100 tons of garbage was disposed during 48 garbage-clearing operations. The total number of gotong-royong conducted to date is 110.
