Students Pleaded Guilty

Three students, aged 15 to 16, pleaded guilty for riding their souped-up motorcycles dangerously along a road in Batu Gajah recently.

They were jointly charged at the Batu Gajah Magistrate Court on Thursday, December 20 before Magistrate Mohd Fitri Sadaruddin. The prosecuting officer was DPP Nor Farhana Hashim.

Two of them were caught by the Police riding their motorcycles in a dangerous manner along Jalan Bemban, Batu Gajah between 9.40pm and 9.42pm on Wednesday, December 5. The other was apprehended, along the same road, on Thursday, December 6 at 2.06am.

The trio were charged under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 punishable by a fine of not more than RM5000 and or a prison term of not more than five years. They will be denied a motoring licence for a period of not more than two years from the date of conviction.

Since they were underage the court awaits a report from the State Welfare Department before sentencing on January 28, 2019.

All three were ordered to post a RM2500 bail each. Two posted while the other failed to do so. He was sent the juvenile rehabilitation centre at Pokok Sena, Kedah.

Another classic “mat rempit” case has come to grief.
