RPS Helps Homeless

Students and teachers of Upper Six of SMK Raja Perempuan Ipoh (RPS) took part in community service with the theme “Dapur Jalanan RPS” (RPS Street Kitchen) to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the homeless and poor.

The Form Six students, especially from the Interact Club, organised this project as part of the club’s annual community service programme. Club teacher-advisor N. Sushil Kaur said it was the first time the club conducted a soup kitchen for around 100 homeless and poor at Medan Dato Sagor on March 3.

“We are also grateful that Dapur Jalanan Ipoh, a non-profit organisation, allowed us to be involved in this programme, as they carry out this Soup Kitchen every fortnightly at this specific venue from 5pm to 7pm” she said.

The Interactors were touched and felt sad that there were so many people in need of basic necessities and have volunteered to assist Dapur Jalanan Ipoh crew in future.

“This project is relevant and should be encouraged because it develops and equips the students the knowledge of caring, responsibility and cooperation” added Sushil Kaur Interactors were proud to carry out such a significant project and had a fun time contributing to society by upholding the motto “Service above Self”.
