Two VAT 69 police personnel who were injured during the recent terrorist intrusion in Lahad Datu, Sabah were given a warm welcome upon their arrival at the PDRM Police Air Wing Training Centre, Ipoh on the evening of Thursday, March 7.

On hand to greet Corporal Azman bin Ampong and Corporal Mohd Tarmizi bin Hashim were Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Di Raja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, State Exco for Health and Local Government, Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon, Chief Police Officer, Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan and senior military officers. Members from PERKEP (Persatuan Keluarga Polis) Brigade Utara were also present.

As the Cessna Caravan stopped in front of Hangar 1, Zambry greeted the duo before sharing in a thanksgiving prayer. The injured policemen were then taken to the Tuanku Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further treatment. Both had arrived at the Sungai Besi airport from Sabah earlier in the day before being transferred to Ipoh.

Zambry told reporters that a special fund has been launched to assist members of the security forces. He added the state will also plan for the future of their families, especially those who were killed in harness.
