RM1.1 Billion Integrated Edu-City

Qi City, a RM1.1-billion integrated edu-city, is an upcoming development project comprising a teaching hospital with public and private wings, Quest International University Perak campus, three condominium blocks, retail outlets, a medical rehabilitation centre, hotel suites and a convention hall with a seating capacity for 1500 people.

Construction is expected to start in 2016 and complete in 2019. This first-of-its-kind uniquely modelled Public Private Partnership (PPP) project will be located in Bandar Meru Raya.

“Qi City’s edu-city project not only serves to strengthen Perak’s economic growth, it’ll also be a catalyst for job creation and investment opportunities in the state,” said Dato’ Mohd Zahir Abdul Kalid, representative of the State Secretary, Dato’ Seri Abdul Puhat bin Mat Nayan during the signing of the memorandum of agreement between Green Venture Capital (GVC) with China Energy Hua Ren Industrial Investment.

Perak State Secretary Incorporated (SSI) is an equity partner in GVC.

“What we envision with the completion of this project is a new brand of vibrancy and a hub of social, economic and education activities that will benefit the bustling Bandar Meru Raya,” explained Chandragesan Suppiah, CEO of GVC.

Present at the signing ceremony were Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Menteri Besar Perak, Wang Wei, Chairman of China Energy Hua Ren Industrial Investment and Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran, the Executive Chairman of GVC.

“Our model will create a more efficient cost structure both for development and the operations of the hospital by putting in place cross-subsidy measures and a collaborative-cost model with other components of the development that results in a lower expense structure that will ultimately benefit Perakeans,” said Dato’ Sri Vijay.
