Empowering Today’s Students

EasyUni, Asia’s leading education site, is launching a Paid Internship Programme for college and university students studying in Malaysia who want to earn extra cash while still in school. Interns and part-timers will get a chance to work in various industries including Food and Beverage (F&B), Advertising, Retail, E-commerce, IT and others.

“Students can contribute stories, write articles, design layouts and creatives, even do data entry and translation in our headquarters in Mid Valley or in the comfort of their home,” says Edwin Tay, CEO and Co-Founder of EasyUni Sdn Bhd.

“We are looking forward to hosting culinary arts majors who have the passion for action in the kitchen,” says Jo-Ann Tan, Founder of Fork D World Bistro, who will be offering internships to aspiring chefs.

Mobile commerce presents a huge opportunity for entrepreneurs, businesses and start-ups in Malaysia. In fact, mobile commerce is making a huge impact in Malaysia, as 91% of online shoppers researched products on a device, while 42% made purchases via their mobile phone. Shopee is a mobile marketplace that focuses on providing platforms for budding entrepreneurs who plan to start a business or to work in small entrepreneurship enterprise and Shopee also aims to create a young entrepreneurship community by educating young talents on how to develop and create their own start-ups.

“University and college students can explore Shopee as an online avenue to sell their products while getting the chance to network with experts, buyers, influencers and more. By giving them the right skills and platform to use, young entrepreneurs today will no doubt be an influential force in the social commerce scene”, says Ian Ho, Managing Director of Shopee Malaysia.

Other partner companies include online footwear store Christy Ng Shoes, telecommunications company Action Retails Management, and premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services and events for information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets, International Data Corporation (IDC). “By providing opportunities to students, we are enabling them to help themselves, at the same time imparting valuable knowledge and skills,” tells Vijay Sundararaman, Country Manager (Malaysia) of IDC.

In addition, EasyUni, together with the partners, will host a series of talks featuring topics related to youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and money management.

“EasyUni was launched with a mission to help students. This initiative is another one of many that we have done and many more that we will do,” says Tay. “Aside from offering a chance to work in our organisation, we are offering opportunities for students to learn skills on how to manage their finances and help themselves, while they are still in school.”

The talks will invite experts and leaders from various fields, hoping to inspire students by making them recognise their gifts, skills and talents which they can use to support themselves and take care of their expenses.

James Tan, CEO of Mantra, adds, “We are glad that EasyUni has chosen us to partner with them in this noble cause. We will be glad to extend our expertise to help these students.” In addition to the talks, Mantra will also offer internship for media and mass communication students, which includes copywriting and design, social media, account servicing and events management.

“We have an exciting line-up of speakers and we are beyond ecstatic to share them with our students. We hope this will help them in any way,” says Tay.
