A Meaningful Community Forum

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed that May 15 of every year should be observed as the International Day of Families to acknowledge the importance of families.

In conjunction with this year’s International Day of Families, the Family Wellness Club, Ipoh along with the National Population and Family Development Board organised a forum on Sunday, May 15 at the Perak Islam Administration Institute (Intim).

‘Families, Healthy Lives and Sustainable Future’ was the theme of this year’s forum which was well attended by participants from all walks of life. Its objective was to educate and empower individuals and families.

Panel speakers included Dato’ Dr Amar Singh, Head of the Paediatric Department at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun Ipoh; Dr Fauziah Mohd Sa’ad, Head of Counselling Unit at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris; Dr Edward Weng Lok Chan, Principal Consultant Psychology at International Psychology Centre; Dr Yek Sing Chee, President of Private Medical Practitioners’ Society, Perak; Sarah Kambali, Co-Deputy Chairperson of the Committee of Safer Malaysia; and Ahmad Munawir, Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

The panelists spoke on their given subjects and shared their professional experiences with the participants. The speakers lived up to the audience’s expectations. They captured the participants’ attention with their unique style of delivery and answered questions from the floor with ease and confidence.

Participants got the opportunity to talk to the speakers privately after the forum. It was a meaningful occasion for everyone present.
