TMC Fertility Centre, listed in the Malaysia Book of Records for the highest number of IVF babies produced by a single IVF practice (3210 IVF babies) in 2013, opened its latest branch in Ipoh on Wednesday, February 22.
The sixth branch located in Fair Park, houses two resident specialists, Dr Liza Ling Ping and Dr Thinakaran Malapan, with some visiting specialists from neighbouring hospitals. Among the services provided are treatment of infertility, blastocyst transfer, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, in-vitro fertilisation, intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection, egg/sperm donation, embryo freezing, sperm banking, vaginal scanning and other assisted reproductive procedures. Obstetrics and gynaecology services such as pap smear, antenatal check-ups and breast examination are available too.
“TMC Fertility Centre’s Class-100 labs have Laminar Flow, infra-red CO2 technology, uniformed temperature, humidified work area, HEPA and carbon filters to provide an environment that is free of microbes, pathogens and VOCs. No detail is spared, right down to the culture mediums and dishes, which are of IVF grade, and individual IVF Chambers to reduce temperature loss with frequent opening and closing of the hatch,” Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr Khalid bin Abdul Kadir, chairman of TMC Life Sciences explained.
He added, “Many are still unaware that infertility problems can stem from either the husband or the wife. Culturally, it is assumed that fertility issues lie mainly with the women, that’s terrible! We are here to overcome that misconception. Hence this year, we’ll be launching our fertility screening packages with affordable price to encourage younger couples to get themselves screened if they have not conceived naturally within one year of marriage or six months if the women is above 35 years of age. The results will help couples plan their next course of action.”
Since its establishment in 1994 in Petaling Jaya, TMC Fertility Centre has since grown into a full-fledged fertility centre offering a wide range of treatment options for both male and female patients, ranging from simple to complicated cases. With branches in Kota Damansara, Kepong, Puchong, Penang, Johor Bahru and now Ipoh, the centre is RTAC certified and ISO9001 certified. It boasts high pregnancy rates close to 66%, which is comparable to renowned world-class fertility centres.
TMC Fertility Centre Ipoh plans to increase public awareness on reproductive health with talks, activities, events and editorials, making the Ipoh branch a resource centre for all fertility related issues.
