Combat COVID-19 with MERCY Malaysia

A partnership with entertainment establishment Shang Parlour

Shang Parlour, an entertainment establishment in collaboration with MERCY Malaysia will be organizing a two-week awareness campaign to garner support and raise monetary assistance for MERCY Malaysia’s COVID-19 Pandemic Fund.

Aptly named #BERANIBERSAMA, the awareness drive kickstarts on the 1st of May and will feature local celebrities and personalities who have volunteered to host a variety of community initiatives such as podcasts, livestream performances and informational tutorials via social media to help support the fight against COVID-19. The campaign aims to reinforce MERCY Malaysia’s target to achieve RM40.5 million to support medical services and the essential needs of marginalised groups within the country.

“We are very happy to be working with everyone, the public, private sector, other aid agencies, the government, partners and volunteers of MERCY Malaysia in reducing the humanitarian burden the country is facing now. There is no better way in overcoming this pandemic than to fight it with experience and knowledge and to act upon it holistically,” Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus, President of MERCY Malaysia said in a statement.

A representative of Shang Parlour said, “It is of utmost importance that we come together as one community now more than ever to make a difference. The #BERANIBERSAMA campaign’s two-pronged approach is to not only raise funds, but we want to reach out to everyone at home and give them something to look forward to or to inspire them during this difficult period and hopefully come out of this stronger and better.”

#BERANIBERSAMA will be anchored by seasoned actor, comedian and TV presenter Rashid Salleh on www.Facebook.com/BeraniBersamaMY where the public can choose from a myriad of content that will suit their liking.  Personalities such as Peter Davis, Poova, Roshan Jamrock, Iqbal Ameer of Livescape Asia, DJ Victor G, Jiggee Jon, fitness instructors from CrossfitLah, comedians and many more have come forth, using their talent to raise public awareness in donating to MERCY Malaysia’s fight against COVID-19. Each video content will either be pre-recorded or will be conducted live on several social media platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram for approximately 30 minutes to an hour.

Members of the community who wish to donate can do so by logging on to Launch Good, a crowdfunding page www.launchgood.com/BeraniBersamaMY where they can make a difference. The #BERANIBERSAMA campaign will run from the 1st of May – 15th of May with its targets of raising donations of RM50,000, and hopefully to RM200,000 by phases. All funds and donations from the #BERANIBERSAMA campaign will be credited directly into MERCY Malaysia’s bank account.

MERCY Malaysia launched its COVID-19 Pandemic Fund to support medical services and the essential needs of marginalised groups within the country. This dedicated fund is to implement the COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan – a plan for humanitarian assistance to be delivered within a continuous cycle of total disaster risk management that focuses on prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. All aid assistance and deliverables are coordinated with MOH and the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), and the National Agency for Disaster Management (NADMA).
