Display Proper Flags!

In conjunction with the National Day celebration, more than 2,000 Jalur Gemilang banners along main roads and 500 flags at business premises around Ipoh were installed.

According to the mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, around 6,000 flag installation notices have been distributed by Ipoh City Council (MBI) to private premise owners.

“This is to enliven the celebration of independence around town,” he told reporters in the MBI-level Jalur Gemilang programme today (August 10) at the council building.

“Also, there are parts of the Ipoh community that are still displaying faded or torn flags, even at unsuitable locations,” Rumaizi bemoaned. “MBI wishes to remind them to display new flags. We should respect the Jalur Gemilang as the country’s national symbol and not take it for granted.”

Ipohites can now also reap the opportunity of traffic compound discount! Rumaizi announced that the discount will be offered by MBI starting today until August 31.

“The discount will be offered between 30 to 50 percent,” he mentioned.

“Hopefully, the National Day celebration, which will be lasting until Malaysia Day (September 16), will be able to instil Ipohites’ patriotic spirit for the betterment of the state and country’s future,” Rumaizi expressed.
