Saarani Tables State Budget
After seven full days of service, the Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Saarani Mohamad has tabled the 2021 State Budget during the 14th State Assembly Sitting today (December 16).
While reading the budget proposal, Saarani and the entire line-up of executive councillors (Excos) unanimously agreed to using the proposal prepared by the previous government administration.
“Today marks the seventh day of my service as MB. It was indeed a very limited timeframe for me to prepare an entirely new budget proposal.
“On the basis of my direct involvement with the process of preparing a financial allocation proposal for 2021, it’s naturally my responsibility as the new MB to re-draft the budget speech,” he said.
Saarani added, the government had projected a deficit budget of RM103.2 million for the 2020 budget tabled last year.
“However, based on the latest situation (November 30, 2020), the financial position is only a deficit of RM86.4 million, equivalent to a reduction of 16.3 percent (RM16.8 million) compared to the original projected deficit.
“By December 31, 2020, the deficit is expected to reduce up to RM40 million,” he mentioned.
‘Perak Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive’ continues to be the state budget’s theme.
“The theme is in line with showing the government’s focus in continuing development plans executed this year,” Saarani explained.
