Kampung Delights Beckon at MH Hotel Ipoh This Ramadan

Running on the theme “Lambaian Desa” (The Countryside Beckons), the buffet dinner at MH Hotel Ipoh is featuring a host of nostalgic kampung delights during the month of Ramadan beginning April 17. 

Having rotating menus, the signature items include asam pedas ikan pari (spicy tamarind stingray), masak lemak nangka ikan masin (jackfruit and salted fish in coconut gravy), pajeri nenas (pineapple curry), ayam masak merah (chicken in spicy tomato sauce), sup tulang 7 keturunan (beef ribs soup), nasi briyani (rice dish flavored with spices), ayam goreng berempah (spiced fried chicken), bubur lambuk (spiced congee), kari kambing berkentang (mutton curry with potatoes), lala masak cili kering (clams cooked with dried chillies), kambing bakar (roast lamb) with black pepper sauce and kuey teow goreng kerang (stir-fried flat rice noodles with cockles).

“The asam pedas ikan pari is a specialty of Melaka, thus we use spices hailing from Melaka. The paste could take up to 2 hours of preparation time,” explained Mohd Khamizan bin Mohamad Jafar, Sous Chef with 16 years of culinary experience.

Besides having up to 11 main courses daily, there are also stations serving assorted noodle soup, crackers, kerabu (spicy salad), pickles, fritters, ulam (fresh herb salad), rojak buah (spicy fruit salad) and others.

Meanwhile, the desserts offered are kuih (traditional cakes), local fruits, bubur kacang hijau (mung beans porridge), ice cream, ais kacang (shaved ice with various toppings) and more.

Operating with strict adherence to the health and safety standard operating procedures, the dining area on the fifth floor has a capacity of 250 people. Prayer facilities are available on the sixth floor for males and second floor for females.

“We also accept bookings for private events on level 20 (The Pinnacle) for a group of 40 to 60 diners,” added Syafawati, Assistant Sales Manager.

Advance bookings made before May 1 will be entitled to an early bird promotion where the spread is priced at only RM49.90 nett per adult and RM39.90 nett per child or senior citizen.
