Road Accident at Jalan Gopeng-Kampar, One Casualty Reported

An accident involving four vehicles and 11 victims including a casualty occurred at Jalan Gopeng-Kampar earlier today (May 9).

A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said that an emergency call was received at around 1.40pm. 

A squad and two vehicles from the Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station were rushed to the scene right after.

“Upon arrival, it was shown that four vehicles, a Toyota Vellfire, a Proton Saga, a Perodua Myvi and a Perodua Alza had collided with each other.

“During the aftermath, five out of the total victims sustained injuries, while five others managed to get out by themselves unharmed.

“Unfortunately, another one of them, an 89-year-old passenger of the Perodua Myvi, succumbed to injuries on the spot. The rescue squad used a stretcher to take him out as his remains were stuck in the car.

“Preliminary treatment was given to injured victims before they were handed over to the ambulance and police for further actions,” he explained, adding that the injured victims were sent to Kampar Hospital. 

The operation which ended at around 2.29pm was led by Senior Fire Officer II Tarmizi Rasid.
