Solar Farm Workers’ Containers Damaged by Fire, No Victims Reported

A fire broke out at a solar farm project in Gopeng yesterday (May 25), heavily damaging four workers’ containers.

A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said that an emergency call was received at around 7.04pm.

“A squad and two vehicles from the Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) along with Simpang Pulai BBP and volunteer fire brigades (PBS) from Pekan Baru and Menglembu were rushed to the scene right after.

“Upon arrival, the type C containers of 5×20 feet each that house cabins and storage of solar farm items had already been 70 percent consumed by the fire.

“The fire was extinguished using three hose reels of 200 feet each with four water-based jets. No victims were involved.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation at the moment,” the spokesperson explained.

The operation which ended at around 9.06pm was led by Assistant Fire Superintendent (PPgB) Rohana Mustapa. It was supervised by PPgB Muhammad Sharil Abas and Senior Fire Superintendent I (PgKB I) Nor Rasidamayati Abd Rasid.
