Fisherman Drowned While Working

A fisherman was found dead after drowning near the waters of Pangkor Island earlier today (June 12).

According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call regarding the incident was received at around 9.15am.

“A squad and a vehicle from the Pangkor Island Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were rushed to the location right after.

“Upon arrival, the squad found and rescued the victim who was aged 35.

“It was understood that the victim fell into the water while lifting a fish trap.

“The squad, aided by on-site hospital staff, attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him but to no avail.

“Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead by hospital staff. His remains were handed over to the police for further actions,” the spokesperson explained.

The operation which ended at around 9.53am was led by Assistant Fire Superintendent (PPgB) Shah Al Haffiz Mohd Redzuan.
