Store Fire, One Victim Reported

A fire broke out at an open store at Gok Yong, Kampung Kuak Luar in Pengkalan Hulu, Perak late night yesterday (June 12).

According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call regarding the situation was received at around 10.38pm.

“A squad and a vehicle from the Pengkalan Hulu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were rushed to the location right after.

“Upon arrival, the C-class store of 6mx5m in size which was housing zinc and steel construction materials had already been consumed by fire, with around 70 percent damaged.

“The squad used a water-based hose reel to fully extinguish the fire.

“During the aftermath, a nearby house tenant sustained burn injuries on his hands.

“He was brought to the Pengkalan Hulu emergency health clinic via an emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) vehicle.

“Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire,” the spokesperson explained.

The operation which ended at around 11.40pm was led by Assistant Fire Superintendent (PPgB) Syahirul Anwar Abdul Azam.
