Road Accident at Gerik, One Casualty Reported

An accident involving two vehicles and a casualty was reported at KM28 of Jalan Gerik Kupang near the Bintang Hijau rest stop in Perak earlier today (June 15).

According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call regarding the incident was received at around 6.27am.

“A squad and a vehicle from the Gerik Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were rushed to the scene right after.

“Upon arrival, two vehicles, a trailer and a motorcycle were found to have collided.

“A man aged 21, the motorcyclist involved, was killed on the spot. He was confirmed dead by on-site health staff. 

“The lorry driver however, was unscathed. 

“The rescue squad used special tools to remove the deceased victim from the crash site. His remains were handed over to the police for further actions.

“Investigations by the police are ongoing to find out how the accident happened,” the spokesperson explained.

The operation which ended at around 8.05am was led by Senior Fire Officer II (PBK II) Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Ghani.
