No One Should Go to Sleep Hungry

The Rotary Club of Greentown (RCG) is organising a two-day ‘Feed My People’ food bank and blessing box programme on June 19 and 20 at A1 Cash & Carry in Buntong, Ipoh.

According to the programme’s organising chairman Jiva Kandasamy, the ‘Feed My People’ food bank targets to aid some 3,000 individuals from around 600 households under the B40 category who are facing difficulties obtaining basic daily necessities.

“This includes those who lack food and kitchen supplies particularly during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting Movement Control Order (MCO).

“The programme is a joint effort between RCG and A1 Cash & Carry, in which five items will be provided to any qualifying individuals, such as rice, beans and other raw food supplies,” he told reporters at the programme’s location today.

Also present was president of RCG Rita Olikh and director of A1 Cash & Carry Vignes Phillai.

“A1 Cash & Carry is contributing some RM100,000 worth of food supply for the programme,” Vignes mentioned.

“The blessing box is a permanent placement at A1 Cash & Carry, where anyone has the opportunity to contribute food supplies and/or necessities into it, which will benefit more of those in need of help.

“Take what you need, give what you can. No one should go to sleep hungry,” Rita expressed.

The food bank programme runs from 2pm to 8pm on both days. For more information, contact Jiva at 019 999 9014.
