Factory Fire at Mambang Di Awan, No Victims Reported

A sawdust processing factory at Mambang Di Awan near Kampar, Perak caught fire earlier today (July 20).

According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call was received at around 3.55am.

“A squad and a vehicle from Kampar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were dispatched to the location of the incident.

“Upon arrival, the C-class factory of 100×80 sq ft was already consumed by the inferno, with 80 percent of the structure damaged.

“Also damaged were a motorcycle, two dust grinders and a forklift. 

“Aided by water tankers from Tapah and Simpang Pulai BBP, along with volunteer fire brigades (PBS) from Teluk Intan and Langkap, the fire was extinguished using four hose reels of 300ft each with six jets.

“No victims were involved,” he explained, adding that investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

The operation which ended at around 12.21pm was led by Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent PKPgB Meor Mohamad Ali Meor Hussin and Assistant Fire Superintendent (PPgB) Mohd Jamaluddin Mat Yusop.
