Squatter House Fire, No Victims Reported

A fire broke out in a squatter house near Gunung Rapat wet market late at night yesterday (July 23).

According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call was received at around 10.58pm. 

“Upon the arrival of a squad and a vehicle from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), the C-class house of 20×80 sq ft had already been damaged by the fire, having 80 percent of the structure destroyed.

“The squad, aided by Simpang Pulai BBP along with volunteer fire brigades (PBS) from Pekan Baru, Bercham, Pasir Pinji and Menglembu, extinguished the fire using two hose reels of 200ft each with two jets.

“No victims were involved,” the spokesperson explained, adding that investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

The operation which ended in the wee hours of 12.58am today (July 24) was led by Senior Fire Officer II (PBK II) Mathavan Raganathan.
