Boy Drowned While Playing with Friends

An 11-year-old boy drowned at Taman Desa Pelancongan in Pasir Puteh, Ipoh, earlier today (September 18).

The deceased victim was identified as Mohd Hakimi Nor Izzudin.

A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said that an emergency call regarding the incident was received at around 11.23am.

“The deceased was believed to have been playing with his two friends when he fell into the Kinta River section at the said location.

“Nearby members of the public were alerted of the situation when the friends shouted for help.

“Before the rescue squad’s arrival from Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), he was already pulled up the riverbank by public witnesses at around 10.30am.

“The squad attempted to resuscitate the victim but to no avail. He was confirmed dead by a medical officer.

“His remains were subsequently handed over to the police for further actions,” the spokesperson explained.

The operation which ended at around 1.01pm was led by Senior Fire Officer II (PBK II) Yusma Mohd Yusof.
