Enhancing Safety Awareness on Water Activities

The Teluk Senangin Beach in Lumut has become the third location to be installed with the Life Saving Appliances (LiSA) after Pangkor Island and Teluk Batik.

The initiative was carried out by the Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department as an additional safety measure for visitors at the coast as the Manjung district is renowned for its beaches and picnic spots.

The officiating ceremony was held recently with the presence of guest of honour, Ahmad Izram Osman, State Deputy Fire Commissioner and Director of Fire Safety Division of the Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department.

Present were Council Secretary, Mohd Helmi Arifin and State Senior Assistant Fire Commissioner, Azmi Osman among others.

According to a recent post on the Facebook page of the Manjung Municipal Council, the innovative LiSA box contains equipment such as lifebuoy, safety jacket and throw bag rope complete with a siren which can be used by beachgoers as first aid for drowning.

The awareness programme was aimed to educate the community on the use of the safety tools and to remind all on the importance of safety during water activities.

Members of the public are also urged to prevent any form of vandalism and damage concerning the LiSA box as it is a public property and a vital necessity in the event of an emergency.
