Keeping Thaipusam clean, before and after

By KT Leong

Thaipusam has come and gone, but there was work to be done both before and after the festivities. Prior to the kavadi procession that everybody was looking forward to, NGOs and volunteers made sure to clean the grounds and surroundings of Sri Subramaniar Temple, Ipoh (Kallumalai), to help ensure that it would be smooth sailing for the event.

On 4 February, from 3 pm to 6 pm, 10 members from the Malaysian Indian Youth Council (MIYC) Buntong, with the collaboration Clean Thaipusam 2023, as well as 10 other volunteers, worked tirelessly under the harsh sun so that visitors would have a more pleasant Thaipusam experience.

MIYC Buntong also reminds the public to check out the NIOSH session at Open University Malaysia (OUM) on 11 Feb. Details in our previous article here.

There is concern for safety at the workplace as well as opportunities in the safety industry. Companies and individuals should check the session out to learn more.
