Man injured in a highway accident

A man was injured after the lorry he was driving was involved in an accident with a trailer and a car at kilometre (km) 266.5 of the North-South Highway, southbound, today.

The accident also caused the left lane to be closed for diversion works and the flow of traffic was congested for 10 km.

Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief, PPgB Sharudi Muhammad Halil said the accident which happened around 5 pm involved a lorry, a trailer and a Perodua Myvi.

“Members from BBP Meru Raya with the help of members of the ‘Rapid Intervention Motorcycle’ (RIM) unit of BBP Ipoh rushed to the scene of the incident and found that there was a lorry driver stuck and injured.

“The members of the RIM unit rescued the victim by using rescue equipment until the victim was successfully removed.

“The victim was then handed over to the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) for follow-up treatment,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
