4 dead when a car collided with a lorry loaded with coal in Trong

TAIPING: Four senior citizens died when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a trailer loaded with coal in Jalan Sungai Baru, Trong, here this afternoon.

According to the head of operations from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Rizan Shahrudin, the four victims who were riding in the Vios-type car were trapped and died at the scene of the incident.

He also said that the victims who died consisted of two men and two women, identified as Ng Swee Ho, 67, Ng Ah Mooi, 63, Chew Yang Kim, 77 and Kor Siok Har, 64.

“We received a call regarding the incident at 5.31 pm, then members from the Trong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) assisted by Taiping BBP rushed to the location.

“The accident resulted in four victims being trapped and confirmed dead at the scene by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM), while the trailer driver was found safe.

“Firefighters then removed the trapped victims using power units and rescue equipment (rescue cutter and spreader).

“Then all the victims were removed and handed over to the police for further action,” he told reporters on Friday.

The operation ended completely at 7.23 pm.
