IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) mobilized machinery and personnel for the post-flood mission to Mersing, Johor today.

The mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, said it was MBI’s fifth flood disaster mission to other states.

“A total of 47 MBI members with eight MBI assets, four trucks, one shovel, two four-wheel drives and one tanker are involved in this mission.

“Within a year, this is the fifth flood disaster aid apart from aid missions to Bentong, Pahang; Kuala Langat, Selangor; Baling, Kedah and Bidor,” he said after Release Ceremony of the MBI Flood-Post Mission to Mersing, Johor at the MBI compound here today.

Rumaizi said, the involvement of this mission is based on the spirit of helping fellow Local Authorities (PBT).

“This mission is to help the flooded areas under the Mersing District Council in Mersing Town.

“Among the 19 cities in the country, Ipoh as the largest city or PBT in the country, we take social responsibility if there is a request from any smaller PBT to help.

“Mersing is asking for help, it is understood that the area is critical now, so it is our social responsibility to help. MBI is ready if any other PBT in Johor needs help,” he said.

He said, the first team sent to this location will monitor the location.

“The team will wash and collect garbage and so on, maybe after this we will send a second group.

“We sent the first team within a week, the second team also within a week,” he said.
