Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd. Yusri Hassan Basri said the focus is to ensure the safety of road users as well as compliance with the enforced instructions.

“Road users are also reminded to be careful while driving and not to make mistakes.

“Among those that are frequently felonies are driving on double lines, overtaking on the emergency line and driving not according to the set speed,” he said.

He said this after launching the Road Safety Campaign at the Ipoh Selatan Toll Plaza here today.

A total of 79 officers and 476 police personnel will be involved in the assignment during Op Selamat 20 from 20 to 28 April next.

Also helping is the deployment of members of the Malaysian Volunteer Department (Rela) to smooth the flow of traffic, especially at road junctions and traffic light areas.

He said, Rela members will also be tasked with guarding the entrance and exit junctions on the highway.
