IPOH: The Third Meeting, First Year of the 15th Perak State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Perak Darul Ridzuan which starts next Monday, will have a new look with renovations involving the interior of the State Assembly.

The Speaker of the Perak State Assembly, Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid said that the upgrade of the state assemblyman’s desk and chair involved an estimated cost of RM1 million.

“There have been some improvements made before such as upgrading the audio visual system and the carpet inside the State House.

“This improvement can provide comfort and a fresher atmosphere in line with the commitment to dignify the State Assembly as the state’s highest legislative institution,” he said.

He said this to reporters at a special press conference at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan, here today.

He also said that the last time the State Hall was renovated was 25 years ago, where most of the tables and chairs were no longer suitable for use.

“Maybe some people just see the chairs on the table, but some have rotted because it’s been 25 years, plus it’s made of wood.

“We did apply for this upgrade through the Public Works Department (JKR) and the upgrade work started in February and was completed this month,” he said.

In the meantime, Mohammad Zahir said the DUN session will last four days from May 22 (Monday) to May 25 (Thursday).

He said that there are two Rang Undang-Undang (RUU) that will be brought by the government at this session, namely the Perak Hotel Enactment 2023 which will be brought by Sandrea Ng Shy Ching and the Poultry Farming Enactment (Amendment) 2023 which will be brought by Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun .

He explained that a total of 46 assemblymen will be given the opportunity to discuss the two RUU.

In addition, there are two motions that will be brought by the Menteri Besar of Perak, namely the Motion to Amend Article 38, Part Two, the Constitution of the Government of Perak Darul Ridzuan and the Motion for the Election of Members of the National Assembly.
