Important Role of Media in Assisting Perak Police in Crime Prevention

IPOH – The appearance of several fully armed police officers startled visitors at the AEON Kinta City shopping centre here last night as if a serious incident was taking place.

These officers dressed in all-black attire were constantly on alert while observing the surrounding area.

However, the presence of police officers resembling SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) teams was merely a gimmick for the High Profile Policing program, a collaboration between the Police and Media Practitioners held at TGV AEON Kinta City.

Interestingly, the program was attended by the Chief of Perak Police, Datuk Seri Mohd. Yusri Hassan Basri, and concluded with a movie screening of Polis Evo 3.

This police-themed film features popular actors such as Zizan Razak and Shaheizy Sam, Sharnaaz Ahmad, Nora Danish, and many more.

Also present were Deputy Speaker of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) and Canning Assemblyman, Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, and State Exco for Communication, Multimedia, and NGOs, Mohd Azlan Helmi.

The Chairman of the Perak Media Practitioners Association, Sayed Mohd Hesham Syed Idris, and the Chairman of the Perak Media Sports and Welfare Club, Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali, were also in attendance.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Mohd. Yusri expressed his appreciation for the role of the media in reporting on police matters.

He described the media as the backbone of the police force for delivering information and reporting on the achievements of the Perak Police to the public.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the media colleagues who have been disseminating news materials and simultaneously singing praises about the work of my officers down there.

“The successes, and not forgetting the unpleasant incidents, have also been reported.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks because the media is the backbone of the Perak State Police,” he said.
