35 UTP students clean up 96.5kg of trash

LUMUT – Well-deserved praise goes to 35 students from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Seri Iskandar, who participated in a beach cleanup at Teluk Senangin recreational beach.

These students, who are Mechanical Engineering students, collaborated with the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM).

Three lecturers also took part in the cleanup, namely Dr Masdi Muhammad, Dr Azian Ahmad, and Azizah Mohd Ariff.

A total of 96.5 kilograms of waste were collected along a nine-kilometre stretch of the beach within two hours.

Among the items collected were plastic bottles, paper, beverage cans, and non-recyclable materials such as polystyrene.

Programs like this are hoped to open the eyes of more people to come together and contribute to maintaining cleanliness.

At the same time, it raises awareness among the public about the responsibility to collectively help preserve the environment.
