GERIK: A husband and wife died while their three children were seriously injured after the car they were riding in was involved in an accident with a trailer loaded with cement at Kilometer 25, Lebuhraya Timur Barat here today.
Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said, he received a call about the incident at 1.10pm, before members of the Gerik Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the location.
He also said that there were five victims in the Perodua Myvi car, the deceased were identified as Mohamad Nasir, 51 and Rohaya Harun, 46.
While their three other children who are seriously ill are identified as Mohamad Amir Zaqwan Mohamad Nasir, 14, Nur Auni Batrisya Mohamad Nasir, 12 and Mohamad Zarith Mohamad Nasir, 7.
It is understood that all five victims were traveling from Gerik to Jeli.
The operation led by Senior Fire Officer II, Che Ros Che Hassan ended at 2.45 pm.
He explained further, the firemen then removed the victims using stretchers and handed over to the police for follow-up action.
