A soy drink processing house raided for unauthorized use of halal logo

TELUK INTAN: A total of 170 bottles of soybean milk and 4,300 labels with halal logos believed to be fake were seized in a raid at a house used as a food and drink processing facility near Hutan Melintang here.

The raid was carried out by the enforcement of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumerism as a result of information from intelligence.

This integrated operation was carried out together with the Hilir Perak District Health Office and the Teluk Intan Municipal Council which involved inspection operations.

As a result of the inspection at the premises, it was found that there was soybean milk that had been processed and bottled that is suspected of using a fake halal logo.

The residential premises are suspected of operating using the halal logo without certification and permission from the authorities.

The goods are believed to be distributed to retail business premises around the Teluk Intan.

A 58-year-old man believed to be the owner of the business was arrested for further investigation.

The value of the confiscated goods amounted to RM1,182.50.

The case is being investigated under the Trade Details (Halal Certification and Marking) Order 2011.
