Four more ‘ulat parkir’ were arrested

IPOH: Four ‘ulat parkir’ (illegal parking lot guardian) were arrested, making a total of seven individuals arrested during the two-day Special Operation of Illegal Parking Spot Guards around Ipoh city.

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said, the operation from Friday to yesterday was carried out by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Ipoh through the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, Ipoh District Police Headquarters and Pekan Baru Police Station.

“As a result of this two-day operation, a total of seven illegal parking lot guardians, local men between the ages of 40 and 66, have been arrested around Ipoh city center under Section 50 (3) of the Transport Act 1987 (Unlawful interference and pressure) ,” he said through a statement today.

Yahaya said that the Ipoh District PDRM takes seriously the problem of illegal parking lot guardians in tourist hotspots around the center of Ipoh City.

“In connection with that, the Ipoh District Police have carried out a special operation against these illegal parking lot guardians continuously throughout this year and succeeded in making 42 arrests for the study period from January 1 to July 1 this year.

“Thank you to the public who provided information and feedback so that the police managed to arrest these illegal guardians ,” he said.

He said that the community is advised not to pay any money to the caretaker of the illegal parking lot.

He said the public can get help from police services by contacting the Ipoh IPD district control center (DCC) which operates 24 hours a day at 05-254 2222.
