Police on the hunt for man involved in shots fired at house in Kuala Gula

KUALA KURAU: Police are on the lookout for a man who was involved in shots being fired in front of a house in Kuala Gula early this morning.

Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said, Kerian district police received a call from a man complaining of a shooting incident in front of his house at about 3 am.

“The police then rushed to the scene to conduct further investigations.

“The result of the investigation at the scene found that the victim is the owner of the house, who lives with his wife and four children. He stated that an “explosion” was heard outside the house in the morning,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Yusri said further examination found that there were gunshot holes on the victim’s car, motorcycle and the glass door of the victim’s house.

According to him, however, in the incident the victim and family did not suffer any injuries.

“The results of the inspection carried out by a police team from the Forensic Division (D10) of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Perak Police Contingent Headquarters found several gunshot holes and also found 9mm caliber bullet casings.

“The result of the investigation also found that the suspect was a man riding a motorcycle who fired several shots at the victim’s house,” he said.

He said the case was investigated under Section 39 of the Firearms Act (heavier penalty) 1971.

“The police are still investigating the motive in the incident and efforts to track down the suspect are underway,” he said.

He said, therefore, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Perak would like to ask the public who have information about the incident to contact the Kerian District Police Headquarters Investigating Officer, Inspector Mohd Zulhimi Dahon, on 013-260 4403 or the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.
