BATU GAJAH – Galeri Rumah Lat, located in Batu Gajah, remains a popular destination for visitors, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, among fans of the cartoonist’s works.

Since its opening on July 9th, visitors, including those from outside Perak such as Lembah Klang, have been taking the opportunity to visit here.

One visitor from Kuala Lumpur, Zakaria Rashid, expressed excitement about visiting Galeri Rumah Lat, especially after its inauguration. He mentioned that he has been a fan of Lat’s work since childhood and owns a complete collection of Lat’s comic books.

“Coming here feels like being inside Lat’s comic stories. We are taken back to the past through his cartoon works, like ‘Kampung Boy,'” he said.

For another visitor, Siti Safiya Yusri, watching the ‘Kampung Boy’ animated series on television has been a joy since childhood.

“Although I don’t have all of Lat’s comic books, the ‘Kampung Boy’ animated series greatly piqued my interest as a child. Many stories of village children are portrayed, and through Lat’s works, we get to know various characters.

“As I grew older and read ‘Kampung Boy’ and ‘Town Boy’ comics, I gained a better understanding and got to know who the cartoonist Lat is,” she explained.

Meanwhile, it is understood that since its opening on July 9th, over 11,000 visitors have visited the gallery.

Mohamad Amir Mohd Dahalan, the director of the Perak State Museum Board, stated that the ticket prices for the gallery have not been determined yet and will be announced later.

“We will organize various exciting events at this gallery, such as the ‘Bengkel Melukis Bersama Datuk Lat’ (Painting Workshop with Datuk Lat) and ‘Program Lat and Friends’,” he said in a statement.

Sultan Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah graciously inaugurated Galeri Rumah Lat on July 8th.

The gallery operates from Sunday to Tuesday, starting from 10 am until 4 pm, and remains closed on Mondays.

Admission is free until early September.
