The missing boy in Teluk Senangin was found dead by fishermen

LUMUT: A 10-year-old boy who was reported missing while on vacation with his family at Teluk Senangin Beach, here yesterday afternoon, was found dead today by fishermen.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the victim, identified as Muhammad Faris Irfan, was found two nautical miles from the beach at 8.20am.

“The fire brigade that arrived at the scene of the incident carried out a ‘surface searching’ search and rescue work in the Teluk Senangin Beach area.

“While the rescue team used a boat to search in the sea for a distance of two nautical miles.

“However, the victim was found dead by fishermen near Tanjung Hantu and handed over to the police for further action,” he told reporters here today.

He also said that the operation which started yesterday and continued today involved a force of 67 people.

It includes Firefighters (18), Police (10), villagers (20), Civil Defense Force (10) and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (9).

The operation led by Pantai Remis Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Mohd Akmal Hussin ended at 9am.

Previously, the media reported that a 10-year-old boy was reported missing in the Teluk Senangin Bay Beach area, Lumut while he was having fun with his family members.

It is understood that the incident happened at 3.19pm after the victim’s family members made a police report when they realized that the victim was missing at about 1pm.
