A disabled teenager died in a house fire in Sitiawan

SITIAWAN: A teenager who is also a disabled person (OKU) died in a house fire incident in Kampung Dato’ Sri Kamaruddin, here this afternoon.

The 15-year-old victim was found lying on the bed of a room and was confirmed dead at the scene by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM).

According to the Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, he received a call regarding the incident at 4.11pm.

“Members from the Manjung Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) assisted by BBP Sitiawan rushed to the scene.

“The fire involved a class C house with an area of ​​40×30 square feet and 90 percent was destroyed by fire.

“There was one victim who was a disabled teenager who was completely burnt,” he told reporters here today.

He added that the head of operations then instructed members to apply the receo concept and use a 200-feet hose stream with two jets to extinguish the fire.

The deceased was then handed over to the police for further action.
