TAIPING: Private parties and those interested in development are welcome to revive the Laman Changkat Jering, here which has been abandoned for a long time despite its strategic position.

Chairman of the State Housing and Local Government Committee, Sandrea Ng Shy Ching said the site has been abandoned for a long time due to lack of suitable management and business community to take advantage of it.

“Although previous attempts to get  management have not been successful, the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) is still open to accepting offers and suggestions for the development of this site.

“I also ask for the favor of the Changkat Jering State Assembly Member, Rahim Ismail to help identify private parties who are interested so that the Laman Changkat Jering can be revived and benefit the local community,” she told reporters.

In the meantime, Sandrea added that she also conducted a site visit with MPT, elected representatives and Council Members to inspect some issues arising around Taiping.

She also visited the Matang Public Market together with Kuala Sepetang assemblyman, Ahmad Man.

“This new market has successfully gathered the hawkers who originally did business along the road.

“Now they have a bigger and more comfortable space to do business.

“I express my appreciation to the former Kuala Sepetang assemblyman, Mohd Kamaruddin Abu Bakar who worked hard to fight for this issue until the allocation was approved to carry out the construction of this new market,” she added.

During the visit, she also went to the MPT waste disposal site to survey and discuss the issues of site life expectancy, landfill management as well as technology and systems that help solid waste management.
