Sultan Nazrin appreciates the services of nine national heroes

IPOH: Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah presented a donation to nine national heroes in conjunction with the celebration of National Day Perak State Level 2023.

They consist of seven veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and one retiree each police and firefighter.

In addition to the certificate and plaque, each recipient received a cash donation of RM1,000.

It is to remember the services and contributions they have given to the country.

One of the recipients is retired police officer, Arumugam Seyajothimani, 61, who retired with the rank of Sergeant Major.

He suffered injuries to his eyes, knees and waist while working as a Detective in the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (BSJN), Ipoh District Police Headquarters (IPD) in 1998.

As a result of those injuries, he is now suffering from back pain (slipped disc).

Throughout his service in the police, he was awarded the Pingat Bentara Pasukan Polis, Pingat Pangkuan Negara and Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara.

Also receiving donations was military veteran, Lt Col (B) Dr Syed Othman Syed Omar.

Syed Othman who was injured when he was involved in the ‘793 Alpha Selamat Sawadee’ operation on August 4, 1979 which resulted in him losing both eyes after being hit by a hidden trap.

He is also a historian who has produced many books on the country’s military history.
