Two injured by jellyfish stings at Teluk Batik Beach

LUMUT: Two people were injured after being stung by jellyfish while swimming at Teluk Batik Beach, Manjung, here today.

According to the Deputy Director of Operations of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, a 40-year-old man and his 3-year-old son suffered injuries to their backs, arms, and legs due to the stings of the venomous sea creatures.

He said the fire department received a special service call to assist the victims who were stung by jellyfish at 12:18 PM, and members of the Manjung Fire and Rescue Station quickly rushed to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that there were two victims, a 40-year-old man and a 3-year-old boy, who were confirmed to have been stung by jellyfish while swimming in the sea.

“Both of them suffered injuries to their backs, arms, and legs,” he said in a statement here today.

As a result, he said the operations chief directed the firefighters to provide special treatment and take the victims to the hospital for further treatment.

The operation, led by Senior Fire Officer II, Mohd Azliza Asli, ended at 12:35 PM.
