Sultan Nazrin receives a handover of business zakat amounting to RM16.8 million.

IPOH: Sultan Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, graciously accepted a payment of business zakat totaling RM 16,861,352.52 million from 11 corporate companies at the Istana Perak, Changkat Persekutuan, Bukit Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur.

The Islamic Religious Council and Malay Customs of Perak (MAIPk), which received the zakat, stated in a statement that the handover to Sultan Nazrin was preceded by Tenaga Nasional Berhad, represented by Chief Regulatory & Stakeholder Management Officer, Datuk Shamsul Ahmad, with a total of RM6,356,000.

Meanwhile, Lembaga Tabung Haji was represented by Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Syed Hamadah Syed Othman, with a total of RM6,214,543.09.

They also mentioned that Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad & Etiqa General Takaful Berhad, represented by the Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad, Zafri Ab Halim, contributed RM1,060,000.

“Next in line is Bank Rakyat with a sum of RM773,987 0handed over by Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Bank Rakyat Operations, Nor Haimee Zakaria.

“Following that is the zakat contribution by FGV Holdings Berhad, represented by the Chairman of FGV Holdings Berhad, Tan Sri Rastam Mohd Isa, with a total of RM707,199,” they said here today.

The statement further noted that Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Berhad & Takaful Malaysia Am Berhad also paid business zakat totaling RM500,000.00, which was handed over by Group Chief Executive Officer, Nor Azman Zainal.

“In addition, Maybank Islamic Berhad, represented by the Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Islamic Berhad, Datuk Mohamed Rafique Merican, contributed RM437,597.51.

“Contributing zakat as well is Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad, represented by the Chairman of the State Airforce Relations Committee of Perak, Mohd Rosli Basri, with a total of RM249,428.19.

“Agrobank, represented by the Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank, Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin, contributed RM241,303.47.

“Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad contributed RM221,294.26, represented by the Chief Economist & Social Finance, Dr. Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid, and the final contribution was made by Public Islamic Bank Berhad, represented by the Chief Executive Officer, Syamsul Azuan Ahmad Fauzi, with a total of RM100,000,” they said.
